This article is about the rules concerning placing construction products on the market in the United Kingdom. It has been written in light of the EU Construction Product Regulations 2024 (CPR 2024) being published. It also looks at the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR 2024), which was published earlier in 2024 and shares similar sustainability and digitalisation objectives.
Writing clear and concise specifications is crucial on construction projects. A well-structured specification is not only essential for design success but can also prevent delays, unexpected costs and disputes. Here are five essential tips to help you get it right, from our Best Practice Guide to Specification Writing.
The building and construction sector is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases globally. At NBS, and across our parent group Byggfakta, acting on sustainability is a strategic priority.
The new building safety regime, with the Building Safety Act at its foundation, applies to all construction projects subject to Building Regulations in England*. In summary, it will ensure that the documentation process underpinning the design, construction and maintenance of buildings is ‘done properly’.
Fix performance requirements, improve collaboration and make early-stage decisions based on the sustainability aspirations and project budget by starting your NBS specification much earlier in a project.
This article looks at the benefits of using the Uniclass classification structure when structuring manufacturer product information. It provides an insight into how NBS does this in the NBS Source platform.
This article looks at the benefits of using the Uniclass classification structure when preparing project specifications. It focuses on developing specification information through the project timeline and cross-referencing strategies from other project documentation such as drawings and schedules.
As the level of information in a specification grows, it is useful to be able to share a summary of this information with other members of the project team.
Here we explore 3D, 4D, 5D and 6D building information modelling (BIM), and show how adding extra information can make for more timely decisions – and ultimately better buildings.
